- SMTP — sends email. POP3 — downloads email to your device. IMAP — reads email from the server (stays synced across devices).
- HTTPS = HTTP + TLS encryption. The padlock icon in your browser. Your data is encrypted so no one can intercept it.
- SaaS (Software as a Service) — use apps over the internet, no installation: Gmail, Office 365. PaaS — development platform on the cloud. IaaS — virtual servers and infrastructure.
- VPN — creates an encrypted tunnel through the public internet. Makes remote office access as secure as being physically at the office.
