A formal document sent to potential vendors to gather information about their products, services, and capabilities. It is used in the early stages of procurement before issuing an RFP (Request for Proposal). An RFI helps buyers understand the market landscape and refine their requirements. It is a key term in the IT Passport strategy section alongside RFP and SLA.
